Anne Burrell

Anne W. Burrell has worked as a chef, TV presenter in the US and a teacher at Institute of Culinary Education. She hosts her own Food Network show Secrets of a Restaurant Chef as well as co-host of Worst Cooks in America. Anne Burrell's Food Network show Secrets of a Restaurant chef and her distinctive spikey blonde locks and pump up personality, provides the basics of cooking that any person can master. Chef Burrell also worked at several of the city's most prestigious restaurants, has learned about Italian cuisine and its traditions, and participated in Food Network's Iron Chef America. Early on, while living in the New York's Upstate region, Burrell became passionate about food and cooking. The Culinary Institute of America sparked her interest in the management of restaurants after she graduated with an English/Communications degree at Canisius College Buffalo NY. I was awed by every minute that I was a student in The Culinary Institute of America she declares. It was hard to study how to do, or even work hard enough. After graduating, Burrell spent one year studying at the Italian Culinary Institute for Foreigners and worked in the Umbrian restaurant La Taverna del Lupo as well as Tuscany's La Bottega del 30, a Michelin-starred restaurant. While in Italy she gained a deep appreciation and understanding of Italian culinary and cultural traditions. This has had a profound impact on the way she prepares her food. Burrell was an Garden of Dreams Foundation Advisory Board members, which strives to enhance the quality of life for kids who are facing difficulties. Burrell also serves as an Juvenile Disease Research Foundation (JDRF) celebrity ambassador, and is a vocal advocate for awareness of the dangers of childhood diabetes. She speaks about her cooking passion, and also shares her experiences in the food world when she goes on trips across the USA in both her roles as mentors and speakers. Anne has always been grateful she could share the passion of cooking with others.
